NEW COVENANT ASSEMBLY
1 Corinthians 11:1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
Pastor Bob Hazen was nominated by the pulpit committee and ratified by the church membership to become Senior Pastor of New Covenant in November of 1985. At that time the church was meeting in the Seventh Day Adventist church in Winter Springs. The existing church property was purchased on June 13, 1986. In the ensuing months land was cleared, a foundation was poured, walls raised, roof put on and the sweat and prayers of the Saints produced a Sanctuary. On April 24,1988 the first Sunday service was conducted.
After14 years of church growth, an office/education building completed; Pastor Hazen retired. He has been honored with the title “Pastor Emeritus” by his former church family and currently is an elder and an active member of the congregation.
Recently, Pastor Bob Hazen has filled in as Interim Pastor.
A elder is a position of church governance, elected by the congregation to fulfill the leading, teaching, praying, preaching and pastoral roles in the church. In doing this, the elder is both Christ’s authority in the church and under the authority of Christ.
The term deacon comes from the Greek word diákonos meaning “servant” or “minister.” The word, which appears at least 29 times in the New Testament, designates an appointed member of the local church who assists by serving other members and meeting material needs.
